Coach Suzanne Mergner

Coach Suzanne Mergner is a former graduate from Colonia HS and Rowan University.

While attending Colonia High School, Coach Mergner won numerous track championships and she is the Middlesex County Champion in the 800 and relay team 2 years in a row.  She also won the Group 2 State Sectional title and qualified for the Meet of Champions 2 years in a row placing 7th in the 800m.  Her P.R. for the 5k is 19:48 which was a course record for Merrill Park.  While attending high school she was coached by Olympian Ron Freeman.  She was also part of the track club Team Excel that bested a 3:50 4X400 relay time.

She then set out to Rowan University under the Coach Ringo Adamson (Former Jamaican Olympian). She excelled at Rowan winning the NJAC individual and Team title 2 years in a row running a winning time of 18:17.  She qualified for three Div III National Championships.  The girls cross country team made Rowan history while winning the Mideast Regional Championships and qualifying as a team for a National Championship birth.  The first time in Rowan Cross Country history.  Suzanne is an All-Mideast, All-NJ,  Academic All-American and Female Athlete of the Year for Rowan 94.

Due to all of Suzanne’s accomplishments at Rowan, she was honored and inducted in the Rowan Hall of Fame in Cross country and Track. Ms. Mergner is also the youngest female athlete to be inducted into the Rowan Hall of Fame.

Coach Mergner was honored by the Asbury Park Press in 2007  for Coach of the Year for the team performance, winning the Group 2 Central NJ track championships – (the first time for Matawan since 1976).  Matawan also won the 2008 Monmouth County Outdoor Track Championships and Conference titles in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
Coach Mergner is USA Track & Field Level 1 Certified.

 

Coach Dorothy Bagley

Coach Bagley ran in high school and college in which she was Captain of both her teams. During her high school career the Cross Country team made it to the top five teams within their sections, which didn’t happen in over 30 years before that.

She attended Ramapo College of New Jersey majoring in Graphic Design while running for their collegiate Division III Program. Coach Bagley was coached by Michael Jackson and Beth Van Alstine. That year Coach Bagley and the Ramapo College Women’s Cross Country Team took second place in NJAC Championship held at Richard Stockton College. Coach Bagley made the 2005, 2006, and 2007, NJAC All-Academic Teams for Cross County.

Due to her passion for running and athletics, Coach Bagley perused and completed her Masters in Exercise Physiology and Sports Psychology to further enhance her knowledge. Her coaching career began in 2007 where the Matawan Girl’s Track team won their Group 2 Central Track Championship. In 2008, the Matawan Team won the Monmouth County Championships. Coach Bagley has help lead her team to win the 2010, 2011, & 2012 Conference Championship Titles.
